8 Weeks Remote Home Learning Choice Boards Freebie!

As we move forward with remote learning, I feel that kids need more realistic and authentic learning tasks than packets and online work. I created the following remote learning choice boards for anyone that wants to share with their students and families for the next two months.

Students have the opportunity to complete the entire choice board or just a few and then write about their favorite activity for the week. Many of the activities I remember doing as a kid and when my daughter was little.

Learning comes in all forms, shapes, and sizes! Parents have enough to worry about than packets of work that they have to spend hours helping their kids with.

Let’s take back learning and make it FUN and student-centered!! Let students choose things that interest them and let them move forward with their learning but provide some guidance!

I pray that your families stay safe and healthy during these uncertain times! I encourage you all to start a journal to record what will become a historic event!

FUN Remote Learning Activities!

As I sit here, surrounded by my wandering thoughts of the unknown, I find that sticking to a routine will be the only way that I will be able to keep myself from going crazy!

Routine – an action that is regularly followed

As a human race, we strive in an environment of structure and routine. Without a routine, our everyday functioning would slow down.

It feels like a snow day, but not really. There is this feeling in the pit of my stomach that the world will never be the same again. That things will change; for the good or bad, I have no idea. Do you have this feeling too?

The situation is fluid. From one hour to the next, you really have no idea what is going to happen.

For many of us, the closing of schools for an extended length of time leaves us with a feeling of uncertainty, anxiety, and a great deal of stress.

So many questions. So few answers.

There are things we can do to prepare. Our health and well-being and the health and well-being of our families are our top priority. We have seen and heard the news, and we know what we need to do to ensure the health and well-being of our families, friends, and our community.

Many families are at home, wondering what they are going to do with their day. Establishing a routine at this point is critical. Set a routine for each family member and for the most part, stick with it!

Ensuring that you have plenty of learning activities and or ideas on hand is important too. You don’t want to hear those dreaded words, “I’m bored!”

As the old saying goes, “An idle mind is dangerous!”

Learning activity –  any activity designed or deployed to bring about, or create the conditions for learning

Take a look at this home learning shopping list. You probably already have many of these items. If not, use what you have on hand. Pretty much anything can be used!

Each day, for the next two weeks, challenge your family members to use the items in a creative way. Maybe to solve a problem or to entertain. The sky’s the limit!

Be sure to provide lots of positive reinforcement! And let them make a mess, as long as they clean up.

Make sure to take time to discuss each project asking questions and clarification. You will be amazed at the amount of learning that is taking place by letting each family member drive their own learning.

I would LOVE to hear or see some of the projects that your families produce! Send me an email or leave a comment and let me know how it’s going! Stay healthy and stay well, my thought and prayers are with you and your families!

I have create an 8 Week FREE Remote Learning Choice Board. Enjoy! Be sure to leave a review!
